Physical Education
Summer 1
Dance
On Thursdays, Woodpeckers will be stepping into the world of Aladdin as they work with Lizzie from Star Steppers to create vibrant, high‑energy dance routines. These sessions will help us develop: musicality and rhythm, expressive movement, team choreography skills and confidence performing in front of others.
These fantastic dances will become part of our KS2 production, and we can’t wait to see what magical moments Lizzie will help Woodpeckers create!
Rounders
On Fridays, Woodpeckers will be building on their hand–eye coordination through exciting and active rounders sessions with Mr Fawdry. We will be developing throwing and catching accuracy, batting technique, spatial awareness in the field and agility and quick decision‑making. These sessions promise lots of fun, teamwork, and outdoor energy!

Spring 2
Woodpeckers will be learning gymnastics with Stacey from Star‑Tastic in Monday PE lessons.
We will explore different ways to move our bodies safely and creatively. We will practise balancing on different body parts, improving their coordination, and learning key gymnastics shapes. As we grow in confidence, we will combine these shapes with travelling movements, rolls and simple jumps to create short sequences.
On Fridays, we will be working with Mr Fawdry to develop our badminton skills.
Woodpeckers will learn how to hold a racket correctly and use gentle, controlled movements to hit the shuttlecock. We will practise aiming for a target, keeping rallies going with a partner and learning the difference between forehand and backhand shots. As our skills improve, we will challenge ourselves with fun games to help us react quickly, move around the court with control and work as a team.
