Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

Intent

The intent of our PSHE curriculum is to prepare our pupils for young adulthood. Through a progressive curriculum pupils learn important life skills and knowledge.

Implementation
PSHE taught across the school. This is taught through Personal, Social and Emotional Development in the Foundation Stage. In Key Stage 1 and 2 PSHE covers six areas:
  • Relationships and Sex Education
  • Drug Education
  • Staying Safe including Online Safety
  • Financial Capability
  • Emotional Health and Wellbeing
  • Healthy Lifestyles

At Charlwood School we use the PSHE Guidance from the PSHE Association. The association guidance focuses on 3 core areas:
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Relationships
  • Living in the Wider World

Our PSHE lessons take place each week but themes and core learning can also be covered in assembly time and Big Think Time sessions.
