Charlwood Village Infant School

Aims and Ethos Print E-mail

Charlwood Village School exists to make an important contribution not only to the education of its children but also to the local community in general.

By working closely with the home environment we encourage children to develop their all round abilities which will help prepare them both academically, for later stages in their education, as well as laying foundations towards their becoming valued future citizens in the community.

Aims

  • The Governors and staff of Charlwood Village Infant School aim to provide a happy, safe, caring and stimulating environment which strives to meet the individual needs of its children.
  • Every child is unique and needs to feel valued which is why we aim to build on a child’s individual strengths, natural curiosity and enthusiasm, in turn helping develop self esteem, confidence and a positive attitude which will encourage children to think for themselves and gain independence.
  • Through a variety of teaching and learning experiences we aim to develop the all round abilities of the children, not just academically, but socially and emotionally, physically and morally and work towards fulfulling their potential.
  • We aim to create a productive working partnership by actively involving parents in their children’s education. This is based on shared understanding and is to be established and maintained for the benefit of home and school.
  • We aim to encourage and develop genuine feeling and a natural courtesy among the children - and adults too - based on mutual respect for one another.
  • The school plays an important part in the community and therefore we encourage the community to share in our activities as we take part in village events.
